Shien Chiou, M.S., RDN

Ms. Chiou is a New York-based educator, consultant, and chef with over 15 years of experience in nutrition and food education across New York City's schools. She has impacted thousands of students, teachers, and parents, offering practical knowledge and skills for making healthier food choices. Originally from the Midwest and New England, she has a vested interest in rural health, being the daughter of a retired physician.

Ms. Chiou has contributed to community organizations like Children’s Aid and Bronx Health Reach, creating curricula and providing administrative support for food and wellness initiatives. Notably, she developed a kitchen training program for Wellness In The Schools. Her work is grounded in stakeholder engagement and sustainable change practices.

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Ms. Chiou’s approach is backed by professional cooking experience and ongoing study. She holds a Masters in Nutrition and Public Health from Columbia University and remains closely affiliated with the Tisch Center for Food Education. She also earned a Grand Diploma in Culinary Arts and has cooked in premier New York kitchens. Passionate about food quality, she promotes local and seasonal choices and is grateful for her late-career discovery of the nutrition field.
